As google keep releasing a new version of android every 10 - 15 months. and every new version is better than previous so it will be a wise idea to purchase the latest version from the market. nowadays android marshmallow (6.0) is the latest release by google
2. choosing the screen size
Android devices come in various sizes from large, medium to the small screen but you have to choose according to what fits you best.
Large screen (more than 5.5 inches): - If you are those type of person who likes to watch movies, play games a lot and most of the time, then you should go for a larger screen for a better experience and also feel comfortable with handling it.
Medium screen (4.5 to 5.4 inches): - If you feel difficulty in stretching your hand in large screen and handling it and surfing web and social networks most of the time is your priority's then go for medium screen size.
small screen ( less than 4.5 inches): - while you use your phone less often and as a personal and work-related task.
3. Don't forget to check your wallet
For buying anything in the world budget play biggest role. and it also applies in the case of smartphones. If you are from india then between RS 6000 - 12000 ($150-$200) you will get a very decent phone. increase your budget to RS 1800 ($300) and even better smartphone with better features
you should keep the balance of your budget and your needs before buying an android device.
4. Battery life is also important
you should never underestimate the battery life in deciding a smartphone after all no ones like to go near socket often. most of the smartphone comes with more 2000mAH battery so don't go for less than that.
If you are a power user who uses his mobile every day for 8 plus hours then you have to choose a phone with battery more than 2500mAH.
5. Camera
Nowadays there is trend of taking selfies and most people used their smartphones to take pictures and uploading in social networks. so a good camera is necessary for all. smartphones with at least 8MP will be good for you.
But don't just look for MP's in camera specifications but also the resolution capability because a camera with less MP and high resolution can capture accurate color and light than camera with high MP and low resolution
6. RAM and processor
Don't forget to take ram and processor speed into consideration, if you don't know what they will do then I like to inform you that:-
RAM: - the more ram in your device the more it will capable of performing multitasking
Processor: - Higher the processor in GHz faster it will perform the task like opening apps quickly, image editing and play games smoothly without slowing down.
it means to go for at least 1GB RAM and 1GHz processor
7. Internal storage
Today's everyone like has their collection of high-resolution photos and full HD videos in their phone so having a good amount of internal memory is important.
At least, 8GB of internal memory is good and you can further expand total storage by adding SD card in it.
8. Display qualities
we all love watching the video and play games with high quality. and having a good display quality is a must for better user experience.
Display with 720*1280px will be fine. if not then increase your budget and get smartphones with even higher display quality with higher pixels.

so choosing the right android mobile is all about taking your needs and budget into consideration and then select what best fits for you.
According to me, I divided the user's of android smartphones into two major category's
Hardcore user :- Those are mainly youngster's who spend most of the time with their smartphone doing various tasks like playing games, surfing the web, connecting in social networks, watching videos etc. for those i will recommend to go for large or medium screen, with RAM more than 2GB high processor than 1GHz, display with higher qualities and storage according to their budget because they use most of the feature of smartphones.

Moderate user: - They are the working people who don't have much time to use their smartphones like businessman and entrepreneur who mainly use for organizing their work and schedule like managing emails, calls, to-do lists, and transferring documents. they play games and videos but not like hardcore user's they can be comfortable with medium to small screen's because they are easy to handle and portable and remaining feature can be considered according to budget.
